Hey SMCKC! I am in the running for the SMCKC Awareness Chair position and have been asked to tell you a little bit about myself. Here’s what I have:

For the past three years, I have run a social media and marketing/PR consultancy in Saint Louis, MO. During that time, I have had the opportunity to plan and manage events, ranging in size from the large (“A Saucy Soiree” for Sauce Magazine) to the small (“The Go-Giver Book Tour”). In each instance, I have worked with clients to maximize their potential and reach on social media platforms. I am passionate about social media and the impact it can have on both businesses and individuals, and have volunteered my time speaking to small businesses and chambers of commerce about the ways in which they can use social media to foster relationships with their clients. I have also served as an editor at Girls Guide to the Galaxy, a blogsite devoted to social media, women, events and promoting causes. In short, I understand spreading the word about the things you love!

I was an active member of Social Media Club Saint Louis, as well as The Saint Louis Bloggers’ Guild and various networking agencies in the area. I would like to bring my experiences with those entities to Kansas City as the SMCKC Awareness Chair. I feel that it is important to reach out to and create alliances with emerging and established networking organizations to increase membership. I plan to initiate relationships with established media outlets to ensure that our message is heard by Kansas Citians who may not understand our mission. I would also like to interact with current members of SMCKC, to ensure that their voices are heard and to make sure they are aware of the great programs and incentives we offer now and those we will offer in the future.

Most importantly, I hope to help make SMCKC even better than it is currently, a goal I feel that the other candidates share. That will be hard going, as the current Board has set some pretty phenomenal precedent. I look forward to the challenge. Of course, if you have any questions or want to discuss your ideas, I am here for you. Just as I will be if you do me the honor of making me your SMCKC Social Media Awareness Chair.

Thanks so much for everything you do, and happy voting!

Hey, I'm one of the individuals running for SMCKC Awareness Chair. Below is a few of my thoughts towards the position just in case we haven't met.

# Words from a potential Awareness Chair?

The month of May will mark the date that I have been in Kansas City for four years. The last three of those years, I have been actively raise awareness of creative tech professionals in the city of Kansas City through annual events. Since DotNext in 2007, I work with my fellow colleagues and friends to organize events such as Startup Weekend, BarCamp and StartupKC Drinks.

For all the events that I have thrown, I still feel there are many individuals outside of our social networks who would be interested in Social Media Club and all the other interest groups Kansas City has to offer. Events are one of the best ways to raise awareness, but the single most helpful thing We call can do is talk about to others.

If you have an event that you want to see happen, lets talk about it. I'm always reachable by email, Twitter and phone. I'm sure we can make it happen. Planning events and spreading the word is what I love to do.
